Warranty
Because warranty law varies worldwide and warranties require lengthy disclaimers and exceptions, we have elected not to provide a written warranty. However, we sincerely value our customers and will treat warranty requests fairly.
Can I use colored smoke oil?
No, colored smoke oil can damage the smoke system.
Our testing has shown that colored smoke can plug the oil filter, check valve and the injectors.
Only Smoking Airplanes smoke oil or chemically equivalent smoke oils are approved.
Our smoke systems are designed to comply with FAR/AIM §137.37
“No persons may dispense, or cause to be dispensed, from an aircraft, any material or substance in a manner that creates a hazard to persons or property on the surface”
Colored smoke can stain or damage aircraft paint and also risks of staining spectators or property on the ground if deployed at lower altitudes.
For these reasons colored smoke is not approved for use in our systems.
Should I install a 2nd injector?
If your aircraft has dual exhaust then a second injector is recommended.
Supplemental Type Certificate (STC)?
The FAA requires that an STC be specific to a particular aircraft make and model. Given the number of different aircraft types world wide its not practical for Smoking Airplanes to get an STC for all aircraft. Field approval for smoke systems are are obtained via FAA 337. An Inspection Authorized Airframe and Power Plant mechanic can prepare the 337 form for your aircraft.
Is the smoke oil tank and pump removable?
Yes, the system is designed for easy removal and easy re-installation.
Will the smoke system fit in my aircraft?
We recommend that a cardboard mockup be made of the system using the dimensions of the desired system from our web page to verify fit.
What is the difference between smoke systems?
The operation of all the systems is identical with the difference being smoke oil capacity. Any system that will fit in the desired installation point will work in your aircraft.
What installation approval do I need outside the USA?
