Subject
Recommended Replacement of Smoke System Components Located In Engine Compartment
Applicability
This Service Bulletin applies to all smoke systems manufactured and supplied by Smoking Airplanes, including units installed on OEM and aftermarket aircraft. This requirement applies to all units currently in service, regardless of date of manufacture or installation.
Reason
Certain components installed in the engine compartment are exposed to:
• Continuous vibration
• Elevated temperatures and temperature cycles
• Contact with smoke oil and engine combustion byproducts
Over time, these conditions may result in material degradation that is not externally visible but may affect component performance and reliability.
Compliance
It is advised that affected components may be replaced at intervals not to exceed 3 years from date of installation.
If the installation date is unknown, it is advised that replacement be performed immediately.
Replace the following components:
• Stainless steel braided hoses
• Injector assembly and fitting(s)
• Injector mounting clamps
It is recommended that all listed components be replaced at the same time to ensure proper system integrity.
Inspection
Inspection alone is not sufficient to determine continued serviceability of these components.
Parts Information
Replacement components are available from Smoking Airplanes. Refer to parts listings (https://smokingairplanes.com/collections/parts) or contact Smoking Airplanes for assistance.
Instructions
Replacement should be performed in accordance with the applicable installation and maintenance procedures for the smoke system.
