Don't let these airshows fly under your radar!
Airshow season is rapidly approaching, and the Smoking Airplanes team couldn’t be more excited! We’ve put together a list of airshows in 2019 that might fly under the radar, but that you won’t want to miss.
Where: San Marcos Regional Airport, San Marcos, TX
When: May 3 – 5, 2019
Go Wheels Up is a brand-new auto and airshow making its debut in 2019. Over the course of three days you’ll see acts like the Red Bull Air Force, Adam Baker, The Shetterly Squadron and so much more. Cars and planes aren’t the only attraction this San Marcos show has—artists Bret Michaels and Cory Morrow will also be performing at the show.
Day passes start at $15 and can be purchased online in advance.
Gates open at 10 a.m. Flying begins at 2 p.m. and ends at 5 p.m. Gates close at 10 p.m. on Saturday and 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Where: Fort Wayne Air National Guard Base, Fort Wayne, IN
When: June 8 – 9, 2019
Never seen the Thunderbirds live? What about Kent Pietsch? Now’s your chance at the Fort Wayne Airshow! Two days packed full of static displays and live performances make for an event you don’t want to miss.
General admission is free, but premium seating and VIP passes are available for purchase online.
Gates open at 8 a.m. Flying begins at 12 p.m. and ends at 4:15 p.m. Gates close at 5 p.m.
Where: Davenport Municipal Airport, Davenport, IA
When: June 29 – 30, 2019
This year, Davenport, Iowa will be hosting the Aeroshell Aerobatic Team, Kirby Chambliss, the Blue Angels, the Leap Frogs and more at the Quad City Airshow. Many local food vendors and breweries have been known to make an appearance at the show, so come hungry!
Tickets start at $25 and can be purchased online in advance.
Gates open at 8 a.m. The main airshow begins around noon and finishes around 4 p.m. Gates close at 5 p.m.
Where: Abbotsford International Airport, Abbotsford, British Columbia
When: August 9 – 11, 2019
Canadian pilots—we didn’t forget about you! This year’s Abbotsford International Airshow will be hard to beat. The Canadian Forces Snowbirds, USAF Thunderbirds, CF-18 Hornet Demo Team, and the Aeroshell Aerobatic Team will all be making an appearance.
Tickets start at $25 and can be purchased online in advance, at all Lower Mainland Save-On-Foods locations, or at the gate.
Airshow grounds are open to the public on Friday from 3 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Gates close Friday at 8:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday at 4 p.m.
Where: Burke Lakefront Airport, Cleveland, OH
When: August 31 – September 2, 2019
Celebrate Labor Day weekend with the Cleveland National Airshow! The folks at Burke Lakefront Airport have an action-packed list of performers that include the Thunderbirds, Julie Clark Aerobatics, The GEICO Skytypers Team, two Air Force tactical demos, and more!
Tickets start at $23 and become available online for advance purchase in June.
Gates and parking open at 9 a.m. Flying begins at 10:30 a.m. and ends at 4:30 p.m. No entry or re-entry after 3 p.m.
Where: NAS Pensacola, Pensacola, FL
When: November 9 – 10, 2019
There’s no better way to end your 2019 airshow season than with the annual NAS Pensacola Blue Angels Homecoming Airshow. This celebration of another successful season takes place every year, and includes Adam “Shakenbake” Baker, the Redline Aerobatic team, various USAF and Navy performances, along with none other than the Blue Angels followed by a meet and greet with the Blue Angels team.
General admission and bleacher seating is free, but flightline club seats and reserved box seats will become available soon.
Gates open at 8:30 a.m. Flying begins at 9 a.m.
